Tourneys and CompetitionsHeavy Tournament Tournament organized by Lord Horace of House Serpentius Marshals Format: Double elimination, if we have over 10 people; if less than 10 people do an easy round robin. Lord Bryan and Lady Alesia have most generously donated their renowned "Box or Banner" prize for the winner of this tournament. Winner will have a choice of a games box or a banner - the chosen item to be decorated with the winner's arms or other decoration of his/her choice. Fencing Tournament Unto the populous does Lord Griffith Davion, Left Hand of their Excellencies Bhakail in the capacity of Baronial champion, send his greetings. In honor of their outgoing and incoming excellencies, Lord Griffith will be hosting a "body parts" tournament where not only will points be scored for victory but extra points may be scored for accuracy. Bring your swords, bring your wit and bring your point control. A wonderful prize has been arranged for the victor of the day. Come and see for yourself. The tournament will begin after First Court and continue until we have a winner. If time permits the field will be open to pick ups or some other whims of the marshal until 4.
In Service Bardic Championship Performances are limited to five minutes, and may consist of any period lively art. Accompanists are permitted, but only one performer will be judged in each performance. Competitors will get score sheets to judge all entrants other than themselves. The sheets will have five categories with a scale of 1 to 10 for each. Each entrant's totals will be tabulated and submitted as advice to their newly invested Excellencies, who will have the final say. The criteria have evolved from a combination of period troubadour rhetoric and the practices of the Barony of Concordia of the Snows, which in turn are taken from the Crane Conservatory's judging sheets for historically informed performance. The categories are: Subtlety/Solteltie Contest For the enjoyment of Their Royal Majesties, Their Royal Highnesses, Their Excellencies, and the populace, we are pleased to host a contest of Dessert Subtleties. Subtleties may be entered in one of three categories: All entries must be accompanied by a complete list of ingredients for the benefit of those with food allergies. We all thank you most gratefully for making such a list available. Entries from the solteltie class for children and beginners are exempt from this requirement (ingredients lists for these entries available from Lady Alesia). The deadline for subtlety submissions will be 3:45pm (so that judging can happen before second Court), and the desserts will be on display from then until 8pm (through feast) in the hall . After 8pm (during the ball) munching by the populace is encouraged (though children's entries will be exempt from populace munching as children are a bit proprietary of their art). Class ListingsThe Investiture event staff is pleased to present classes for Children and for Beginners. We ask that any children age 6 or younger attend with a parent or a designated parental representative (13 and up). Although designed for and aimed at children, these activities are suitable for beginner adults as well so if there's something listed here that you've always wanted to try, please feel free to attend! Classes will be held in the feast hall at the end farthest from the dayboard. The Anno Sociatatus XL (AS 40) anniversary history display graciously provided by Lord Michel Wolffauer will be in the feast hall downstairs. Medieval board games and instruction will be available in the feast hall downstairs during the day, courtesy of Lord Michel Wolffauer. Beginner Heraldry Class
This is open to children of all ages. There will be an explanation of heraldic colors, shield division and main charges.
We have 12 cardboard shields available for the children to design their own device using pencils and crayons. A small
donation of $1 for the cardboard shield is requested. Beginner Jewelry
Because we will be using beads, children under the age of three or those who might put the beads in their mouth must
be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Lady Eleanora will show the children how to string beads to make a necklace.
Lord Muin will be teaching Viking wire weaving. Embroidery for Dummies Class
This is open to children of all ages. The children will be provided with an embroidery hoop, cloth, needle and thread.
They will be shown how to make basic stitches and will be able to make a favor. Easy Soltelties Class
This is open to children of all ages. I will give a brief description of soltelties and their appearance at feast. Shield-shaped
cookies will be available for decorating with food safe markers as well as marzipan for molding. There is a children’s division of
the solteltie contest in the afternoon and all children are welcome to enter their creations in the contest if they choose.
Dayboard Menu:Our lavish dayboard calls for the dignity of proper feast gear, therefore a dish-washing station will be provided and refreshed at several points during the afternoon and again in the evening after feast. This will help keep the hills and valleys of Bhakail green for generations to come and will additionally beautify our event. Note that substitutions may occur. The Dayboard Chef, Màistreàs Shannon Gallowglass will have the ingredient lists posted at Troll and next to the Kitchen for those gentles interested. Andalusian/Northern French 13thC

Ball: Dance ListThe ball will be (by preference) no teaching, though I'll be happy to run through anything people don't know (especially Millison's Jig, which is the 1st edition version of Black Nag, and Belfiore, which is a cute 3-person 15th C Italian) and call dances if people request. Also, if we end up with more time than listed dances, I've got plenty to fill in with. Conversely, if we end up with less time than dances, we'll cut dances by popular demand.
