Canton Meeting Minutes

Thursday December 12, 2007

Present: Lady Suba al-Hadid, Lord Robin Gallowglass, Lord Marcus Atheniou, Lord Mael Eoin, Wyn Filiawen, THL Muin...

Meeting came to order at 7:36pm.

Officer’s reports

Seneschal

We've missed our window on the tavern event for march. Barony has announced 3-4 dates in feb/march. Feb 9th is probably the K&Q rapier. March 8th is our last possible open date.

Planning to compile a list of sites we use in the area - name, address, phone #, and any supporting info. Site capacity, kitchen, dry/wet, bathrooms, cost if known (and date of costing), smoking, etc.

In an effort to make us look better to kingdom I've found a su... volunteer to be Deputy Seneschal. THL Muin has volunteered to be Deputy Herald.

Yule is this Saturday - be there or be square.

Baronial elections are coming up. They will be mailed out based on the address you have registered with Milpitas. Even if you plan to abstain, please return your vote as abstained in order to make the number of responses meet the requirement.

Exchequer

We have $768.48. Still.

Chatelaine

Shannon is cooking for Yule. We have people. Proxy by Robin Gallowglass.

Web Mininster

We have a website. Proxy by Robin Gallowglass.

Herald

Workshop this month (December) is cancelled.

We have a restored Deputy Herald.

Heraldry workshop is 2pm-until hosts are tired every third Sunday of the month. Anything you want to work on as long as it's heraldry-related.

MOAS

Proxy by Deputy Muin:

Casting workshops will restart in January.

Wood shop will start in spring.

A&S Night is on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month from 7pm - 10pm at Lady Elenora's.

Bhakail Garb workshops are still 2nd and 4th Tuesday nights in nearby Clifton Heights. Lots of people attend. They have shut down for December.

Dance Practice Monday nights. We have the insurance rider for 2008 now and Suba can sign up for space, authorized by seneschal Robin Gallowglass. No proctice for the remainder of December. Practice will resume when space request has been approved.

Chamberlain

Nothing new to add. We have stuff. It's available.

Chronicler

From Before: (chronicler is busy with Yule tonight)

The first issue of the new run of In a Nutshell will be published by the middle of December, being the start of the 4th quarter. This issue will focus on A&S.

Anyone with anything they would like to have published please contact the Chronicler in some manner for inclusion in the newsletter.

Knight Marshall

Not much going on - practice is cancelled until space is available.

Barony is starting a youth program - not sure if it will extend beyond fighting. Two Youth Marshals have volunteered to head that.

Thrown weapons practice is done for the year. See you in the spring.

Fighting practice is in Bhakail and going strong on Thursday nights; contact Lord Darmon. They have a tournament every month.

Can also contact the Caer Adamant marshal, Lord Kray McLeod. Looking for a new place. Currently at the Delaware Community Center until the end of Jan.

Archery in Delaware at Padraig's is suspended until the weather turns warm.

Tavern event

Is dead unless another site can be found for the only open date on the calendar (sometime in February).

Old Business

Plans to inquire to Kingdom about graduating from incipiency about 5 months from now. After the January quarterly report we'll inquire.

Donation to EK travel fund by Barony has been suggested to be matched by other groups. Finance committee will examine it.

Consider doing something like favors to include spectators in demos.

New Business

Nothing at this time.

Plan on doing riveting or basic wire work on A&S nights based on what folks want to learn.

Comments for the Good of the Canton

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 10th, 2007 at 7:30pm at Middletown Free Library.

Suba will not be present at the meeting next month.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00pm.
