Present: Lady Suba al-Hadid, Lady Eleanora the Tilemaker, Lord Robin Gallowglass, Lord Marcus Atheniou, Martyn de Haliwell, Lord Robin Gallowglass, THL Madelaine Isabeau de Cat.

Canton Meeting

Meeting not called to order as insufficient officers were present. Reports were presented, however no voting took place as meeting was not officially open.

Officer’s reports

Seneschal

Any media contacts - television, newspaper, etc, MUST BE DIRECTED to a seneschal - either Robin or Valentina.

Item - August meeting falls during Pennsic - Canton voted to waive the august meeting.

Exchequer

We have $672. We owe Baroness Philadelphia $70 for the Ridley Creek site for the commons. We have received a $20 donation for the commons.

Chatelaine

We have our big demo on Saturday May 12th - expecting a big turnout from non-scadians. We are in section G; rose garden west, and our team leader is Sue Thompson.

It is my sad duty to report that I must step down from the position of Chatelaine as I am moving out of the canton.

Newcomer to the canton from Whyt Whey - Mael Eoin.

Web Mininster

We have a website.

MOAS

We had another casting. The next class is on May 17th 7pm-10pm.

Upcoming classes on mosaics.

We have bellydancing classes on Monday nights between 7:30 and 8:30 at Lady Elenora's.

Every Thursday that we don't have a canton meeting is an A&S night 7pm-9pm - currently we're doing casting and silk painting - new teachers are welcome..

Bhakail Garb workshops are moved to 2nd and 4th Tuesday nights in nearby Clifton Heights.

Brewer's Guild meets 2nd Wednesdays at rotating locations - periodically it meets in the canton.

Herald

Heraldry workshop is 2pm-until hosts are tired every third Sunday on the month. This month will be on May 20th. Anything you want to work on as long as it's heraldry-related.

Herald needs to be warranted. Still waiting for a reply.

Chamberlain

We have stuff.

Martial Activities

Fencing was tonight. Fencing is occurring on Thursdays 6pm-9pm on the following dates June 7th and June 14th: at Indian Lane.

Thrown weapons practice will be on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays starting May 29.

Fighting practice is in Bhakail and going strong; contact Lord Darmon. Can also contact the Caer Adamant marshal.

Bhakail Archery starting at Wapiti shortly.

Archery in Delaware at Padraig's on hold until spring. Hartshorndale has indoor archery practice.

Chronicler

The newest issue of In a Nutshell will be published on Wednesday June 20th and will be published quarterly. Submission deadline will be June 15th.

Special committees

Finance Committee

Anyone wishing to be on the committee should speak up at a canton meeting under new business. Can contact any/all members of the committee privately if desired. Finance Committee Membership requirements include canton residency and SCA membership.

Intent to reimburse for dayboard for SCAdians at the May 12th demo was submitted and approved given an estimate of $30-$40.

Intent to reimburse for site fee of $70 to Baroness Philadelphia for the site fee was submitted and approved.

Event Committees

Middletown Township Family Pride Day Demo

...is now ON!

Andrew is now on the Middletown Township pride day committee - they meet every other friday. They've decided that anybody that attends with us can be covered under our one form signed by our seneschal.

Next meeting event planning meeting will be Sunday April 1st at Dan and Damiana's house at 5pm unless you hear differently on the e-mail list.

games
merchants
jewelry making
inkle loom weaving
treadle lathe demo
medieval dancing.

Bhakail commons June 30:

Hartshorn-dale is officially on board and offered to pay the remaining $50 of the site fee - we've counter offered to split any remaining costs after the donations are counted. Finance committee approved splitting any donation overage as well.

Samhain Nov 3:

Nothing to report.

Old Business

Coolers! At event planning meeting we discussed getting an igloo just for coffee. This has been purchased.

New Business

Nominations/bids for Chatelaine are now being accepted. Suba raised her hand. Elenora volunteered for deputy.

Comments for the Good of the Canton

Iron Bog Tavern event June 2 will be EQ Marshalled by Doucette. Folks wanting to learn horse crew would be well-served by going to that event and helping her. Fun!

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 14th, 2007 at 7:30pm at Middletown Free Library.
