Canton Meeting Minutes

Wednesday October 25, 2006

Present: Lord William Graham, Lady Suba al-Hadid, Lady Eleanora the Tilemaker, Lord Robin Gallowglass, Lady Shannon Gallowglass, The Honorable Lady Madelaine Isabeau de Cat, Lord Marcus Atheniou.

Meeting called to order at 7:37pm

Officer’s reports

Seneschal

I sent my report in to Duncan Regional Seneschal, Grianne Baronial Seneschal, and New Groups Seneschal.

Exchequer

We have money.

Chatelaine

We're expecting Thomas tonight.

Web Mininster

Hasn't been turned over yet.

Beltane 2007 page started; website mostly up to date.

MOAS

No silk painting last month. Happy to schedule any night coming up.

Also plan to do mosaics.

Happy to host Garb workshops too. Shawn is interested.

Bardic workshops at Tristan's house on second mondays, check with Tristan: bardic@feoragdubh.eastkingdom.org.

Brewer's Guild meets 2nd Wednesdays at rotating locations - check with Lord William: seneschal@feoragdubh.eastlingdom.org.

Herald

Info from Baronial Herald

Eastern Crown herald will be present for the second heraldic commenting session hosted by our canton. Commenting session will be Sunday October 29th. Contact Lord Robiin Gallowglass for details.

Chamberlain

Put out on baronial e-mail list a proposed project - a purple pouch for barony at large - design must be approved by barony.

Open containers of gatorate in the baronial gear have been discarded due to the interest of ants.

We now have two flys for the barony, in addition to the one for the canton, making a total of three.

We have stuff.

Martial Activities

Insurance for the school site has not arrived yet.

Thrown weapons practice is done until spring, the last practice was this past monday.

Heavy fight is still going on in Delaware - for the most part it's whereever they have a place. On Padraig's archery days they hold an official shire practice there those days.

Fighting practice is in Bhakail; contact Lord Darmon. Can also contact the Caer Adamant marshal.

Archery in Delaware at Padraig's. Hartshorndale has archery practice too. There is a temperature limitation for archery, at which point practices will suspend until spring.

Fencing is pending the insurance and approval from our site. Alain Longship has volunteered to teach. Beginners will be completely welcomed.

Finance Committee

Beltane budget is being reviewed.

Event Committees

Beltane:

We had a meeting Sunday Oct 15th to set the meeting schedule for all the remaining Beltane meetings. This list will be published shortly.

We had a site visit Saturday Oct 21st.

Northern Atlantian equestirans will most likely attend Beltane.

Talking about troll to a field closer to the front, and putting archery and thrown weapons next to it.

Horses and hounds will most likely be able to share the front field.

Many ideas were submitted for re-arraging the activity stuff (lorcan theater? children's activities downhill?)

Next meeting of the Beltane committee Sun Jan 14th at 5pm at the Gallowglass residence.

Old Business

Portable holes - no change.

Dance commons - no progress.

Shawn is looking into fielding a small demo for Middletown Family Pride Day.

Aston Community Center was difficult to approach.

Hartshorn-dale is in charge of the H-B commons this year and would like to do it at Ridley Creek State Park. The Hartshorn-dale contact for this would like aco-autocrat from the canton. Elenora is willing to serve as a co-auutocrat for this.

Halloween parade in media is this Saturday Oct 28th at 8pm. We wil try this next year rather than tackle this ina few days.

Elenora found a site for $529 for a day a Saturday. St Alban's Presbyterian Church which she is interested in having an A&S day. Has a large kitchen. - no progress.

New Business

Officers have now been in place for two years; therefore it is time to throw open our offices to election. The following offices are now open for nominations: (we'd like to have seneschal and exchequer on opposite years and the current exchequer hasn't held the position for two years; Moas and Herald will be on opposing years too.).

Motion to open Nominations for Herald - motion Robin, second Suba. All in favor; nominations open. Robin nominated Cat, Shannon second. Cat accepts nomination. Elenora nominated Deiniol, Robin second. Deiniol not present, so not certain yet of acceptance. Nominations will remain open until they are closed during the next meeting..

Motion to open Nominations for Chatelaine - William motion, Wuba second. All in favor; nominations open. No nominations; nominations remain open until they are closed during the next meeting.

Comments for the good of the Canton

Metalsmiths Symposium is this weekend.

Fall Crown Nov 4th in New Hampshire.

Iron Bog Harvest Feast is Nov 11.

Yule is Dec 2nd in Clfton Heights.

Iron Bog Toys for Tots challenge Dec 3rd.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 27th , 2006 at 7:30pm at the home of Eleanora the Tilemaker. THIS IS A CHANGE FROM THE NORMAL MEETING SCHEDULE.

Lord William says: it has been an honor serving this group - you are all awesome. Let us go forward always thinking of the good of the canton, especially when we can align the good of the canton with the good of the individuals.
