Canton Meeting Minutes

Wednesday September 27, 2006

Present: Lord William Graham, Lady Suba al-Hadid, Lady Eleanora the Tilemaker, Lord Robin Gallowglass, Lady Shannon Gallowglass, and Shawn Scott.

Canton Meeting

Meeting called to order at 7:59pm

Officer’s reports

Seneschal

Here we are again! I want to thank Robin for covering at Barony meeting last month and for continuing in this capacity.

Good news and bad news. Apparently the seneschal was supposed to also report to the 'new groups' deputy seneschal, which hadn't been done (oops). Therefore we will be waiting a bit longer for the new group deputy seneschal to get comfortable with our reliability before graduating from incipiency. I want to apologize to the populace for this oversight. It may take 3-4 months to graduate once the new group deputy seneschal blesses us.

We are working on the insurance rider for fencing practice at Indian Lane.

Exchequer

We have money.

Web Mininster

Minutes from previous months hve been posted and new officer changes also.

THL Madelaine Isabeau de Cat has volunteered to take over this office and has been accepted. Transfer of office will happen in the next week or two.

MOAS

Nothing happened this month other than bardic and brewers guild.

Muin happens to be a jeweller and will teach us anything we'd like to learn about jewellry - casting, etc.

Would like to have an A&S Day and have our artisans and from our neighbors and have a commons of some type.

The silk painting workshop will resume this month.

Bardic workshops at Tristan's house on second mondays, check with Tristan: bardic@feoragdubh.eastkingdom.org.

Brewer's Guild meets 2nd Wednesdays at rotating locations - check with Lord William: seneschal@feoragdubh.eastlingdom.org. This Months meeting will be at Michael Wolffauer's house.

Herald

Dan hosted a commenting section on Sunday - Eastern Crown Herald (Julia) came down, as well as Scholastica, Robin, Cat, and some others and Dan. We found documentation for Tilemaker (yay! Elenora).

The next commenting session will likely be at the Gallowglass household.

Chamberlain

No Proxy.

Martial Activities

Thrown weapons practice every monday until DST ends.

Fighting practice is in Bhakail; contact Lord Darmon. Can also contact the Caer Adamant marshal.

Archery in Delaware at Padraig's. Hartshorndale has archery practice too.

Fencing is pending the insurance and approval from our site. Alain Longship has volunteered to teach. Beginners will be completely welcomed.

Special committees

Finance Committee

Beltane budget is being reviewed.

Approved the $50 expenditure to get insurance rider for our fencing site.

Event Committees

Beltane:

Bid resulting from the meeting is as follows: Suba volunteered to be Autocrat. We picked May 12th (the Mother's Day weekend) as being in least conflict with neighboring events. Price is $16 per adult with a $2 discount fr pre-reg; teens are $8 and childs are $6. Finances will be approved by the finance committee. Vote of the canton accepts this bid.

Next meeting of the Beltane committee Sun Oct 15th at 5pm at the Gallowglass residence.

Old Business

Portable holes - no news.

Dance commons - no progress.

Shawn is looking into fielding a small demo for Middletown Family Pride Day.

Aston Community Center was difficult to approach.

Hartshorn-dale is in charge of the H-B commons this year and would like to do it at Ridley Creek State Park. The Hartshorn-dale contact for this would like aco-autocrat from the canton. Elenora is willing to serve as a co-autocrat for this.

New Business

Elenora found a site for $529 for a day a Saturday. St Alban's Presbyterian Church which she is interested in having an A&S day. Has a large kitchen.

Media Halloween Parade Oct 28th. We would march in the Parade and have the opportunity to hand out flyers. And Candy. Canton is in favor. Neighboring groups will be invited.

Comments for the good of the Canton

Kingdom Crusades is Oct 6th.

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 25th , 2006 at 7:30pm at the home of Eleanora the Tilemaker.
