Canton Meeting Minutes

Wednesday August 24, 2006

Present: Lord William Graham, Lady Suba al-Hadid, Lady Eleanora the Tilemaker, Lord Deiniol Gwrgwst, Lord Robin Gallowglass, Lady Shannon Gallowglass, The Honorable Lady Madelaine Isabeau de Cat and THL Muin meqq Minain.

Canton Meeting

Meeting called to order at 7:47pm

Officer’s reports

Seneschal

It's so good to see everybody, especially all these new members.

Change of name from scots gaelic to english translation was discussed; we'd like to wait until after we graduate from incpiency

Question about our newsletter - since we don't have a chronicler t has been defunct.

Sent emails to Duncan and Fast Eddie about graduating from incipiency. Need addesses from East Kingdom. Marietta is the branch polling deputy to handle the polling results. There are 30-60 days of polling, so we won't graduate before Kingdom Crusades. We are also restricted by the schedule of board meetings, since after the kingdom approves it the board has to approve it next; we will probably be before the board at the january meeting. We'll need recommendations from our Baron and Baroness and the baronial seneschal.

There must be letters from all the proposed officers of the group explaining why we want to get full status, a list of all our activities, and letter from the Herald that our name has passed.

Reports must go in on time.

Robin Gallowglass has offered to be deputy seneschal and has been accepted.

Exchequer

We have money.

Chatelaine

Welcome Shawn and Robin and Shannon Gallowglass. and Cat and Muin

Web Mininster

Minutes from previous month have been NOT been posted. Will correct this shortly.

THL Madelaine Isabeau de Cat has volunteered to take over this office and has been accepted.

MOAS

Muin offered to be Deputy MOAS and was accepted.

We had our second silk paintng class on July 14th. We will be continuing. Date to be announced once fall calendars have been settled.

There were some informal garb workshops at Suba's house.

EK A&S issue has been mailed out and should show up soon.

Bardic workshops at Tristan's house on second mondays, check with Tristan: bardic@feoragdubh.eastkingdom.org.

Brewer's Guild meets 2nd Wednesdays at rotating locations - check with Lord William: seneschal@feoragdubh.eastlingdom.org. This Months meeting will be at Michael Wolffauer's house.

Herald

Working on several devices.

Muin volunteered to be deputy herald and was accepted.

Workshop once a month proposed, to research local devices and names and to have commenting. Proposal was well-received and workshops will be scheduled.

Chamberlain

No Proxy.

Martial Activities

Thrown weapons practice starting Monday Sept 11 and every monday until DST ends. Sep 11 will be a cookout.. Will be Mondays all summer.

Fighting practice is in Bhakail; contact Lord Darmon. Can also contact the Caer Adamant marshal.

Archery in Delaware at Padraig's. Hartshorndale has archery practice too.

Special committees

Finance Committee

Nothing to report.

Event Committees

Beltane:

New committee opened. Autocrat will be elected at the Beltane planning meeting. First meeting Friday Sept 8th 7p at the Gallowglass house.

Old Business

Portable holes - we're asking Franz's household to make an outdoor one.

New Business

Dance? Commons - considering once a month on a Friday. Suba will look for a site.

Looking for a new demo in Media in the non-Beltane part of the year on Media Day.

Middletown Family Pride Day is May 12th.

Shannon - idea for a winter event; a tavern event bardic, games, brewing competition.

Suba wants a Games and Galliards type event.

We have two first-aid CPR instructors in the canton now, if anyone wants to take a class.

Hartshorn-dale is in charge of the H-B commons this year and would like to do it at Ridley Creek State Park. The Hartshorn-dale contact for this would like aco-autocrat from the canton.

Comments for the good of the Canton

There is a demo in Yardley on Sep 30th.

Swamp Thing in Caer Adamant is Labor Day weekend, as is Convivencia in Sylver Rylle.

Green Lane Demo is Sept 8-9-10

Lakewood Ren Fair is Sept 15-17

Wrightstown Ren Fair is Sep 16-17

Iron Bog Barter Sep 23rd

Coronation is on the 30th.

Kingdom Crusades is Oct 6th.

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27th , 2006 at 7:30pm at the home of Eleanora the Tilemaker.
