William Graham, Lady Eleanora the Tilemaker, Lord Corwyn, Lord Bilgisayar,
Lord Deiniol, Lady Suba.
Finance Committee
The finance committe met before the meeting
and approved Lord William's request to purchase a zip code map on behalf
of the Canton. The expense is expected to be under $10. Digital map cost
$80 two years ago.
Canton Meeting
Meeting called to order at 7:43 pm
Officer’s reports:
Seneschal
Good evening and welcome to the hot month of June. No nominations for Chronicler
at this time, I will leave this position open at this time, since our current
officers have sufficient work.
Zip Code Problems:
According to the records of the Kingdom Senechalate, our Ridley park zipcode
has been orphaned and is no longer connected to the rest of the canton.
This may have occurred due to the Post Office adding a zip code. We will
need
to add enough zipcodes to reconnect it. Lord William will do some research
with Oli and sort this out.
Duncan, the Southern Region Seneschal recommends that we leave a corridor
between the two parts of Bhakail that are not the canton. Our original paperwork
did include this. If this changed for whatever reason and we really are separated,
we will remove some zip codes to make the non-Canton portions of the Barony
contiguous. Duncan says this would be better to have in place in the event
we ever break off from the Barony.
For our demos, we have been requested by
Kingdom to not hold "Whack-a-Knight" activities. At this time,
only SCA-warranted individuals may swing weapons.
Baronial Commons is this Sunday June 26th. Please attend!
Of us, who is going to Southern Regional War Camp? If you are camping with
the Barony and/or participating in the potluck, please let Lorcan know immediately,
and also please pre-reg with Eisenthal with the Barony Bhakail designation.
If you are pre-registered to camp with Bhakail, please make sure your tent
information has gotten to Bilgisayar, who will forward it to the other camp
masters.
Congratulations to Suba who was officially
inducted into the Baron's household at Fishy. Congrats to Asbjorn who is
Queen's Champion. Congratulations to Gavan
for becoming Queen's A&S champion for his research on Sugar.
Exchequer
Our last reported balance for the Canton was $1107.46 from April 2005.
Since then we have done the following:
We received an additional $266.00 for registrations for Brew U (the April
report indicated $90 had already been received).
We paid $106.00 to the Media Inn for site fee.
We reimbursed $120.43 to the Barletts for Dayboard.
We reimbursed $55.71 to Elenora for Dayboard.
We approved and disbursed $7.20 to Elenora the Tilemaker for additional
Dayboard expenses for Brew U (paid in June).
The final report for Brew U indicates that we made a profit of $60.66
- congratulations to the Autocrats, Lord William and Lord Bilgisayar!
In May we received $7.00 from Corwyn’s chain-mail fundraiser at the Middletown
Pride Day Demo.
In June we approved and disbursed $17.95 to Elenora the Tilemaker for
the hospitality supplies for events (asprin, tums, band-aids, safety pins,
etc).
Assuming I had the correct opening balance, our current balance should
be $1067.17.
Be aware that although our event broke
even and actually showed a net profit that we are losing money this year
due to capital expenditures. This is okay for this year, but let's not
make it a general trend. It's very useful to have a cushion of money
that allows us to make outlays for events in advance of receiving registrations. Poles/ropes and stakes will be made over the 4th of July weekend by Bilgisayar.
Donations are still needed for poles/rope/stake sets, which are $12 each,
we need
8 donations.
Humbly submitted by Suba al-Hadid, Exchequer
Chatelaine
The May 31st Demo at Media Elementary was a success – the children and
their parents enjoyed the dancing that we did.
We have two more new people who signed up for our e-mail list, shyphillyguy
and jipsyleo1967. Our new friend shyphillyguy is interested in Pennsic,
and if I understand it right he may be joining us there.
Our two new members from last month are still active.
Somebody we met at Williamson turned up at Landsknecht and appeared to
enjoy

Herald
Nothing new since last time; did work at Alles Faire heralds' point
and started work on a device for Elenora (her name was lost and Istvan
will find out what happened to her name submission - it has been
over three years).
Baron Ernst announced that anyone interested in voice heraldry or
research heraldry, he'll be happy to coach people in real-time at
events.
Mistress of Arts and
Sciences
We did a really nifty MOAS report - our canton is really active.

a great resource - you'll get hands-on help.
We have projects in progress for gifts to the crown at SRWP.
We are making aprons for Runnymede.
Dance Practice on 3rd and 4th Mondays in June and July.
July 11th is the next Bardic Circle - to get directions RSVP to
Tristan via e-mail. We had some performances for tuning, a jam session.
It's a great place to go to ge help becoming a better bard. This
is a non-intimidating place to grow.
Brewer's Guild meeting 2nd wednesday at Mike Wolffauer's house.
Brewing is fast and furious in preparation for Pennsic.
A&S night is still 3rd wednesday.
Dancing in the Canton:
we have secured the community room of the Middletown Free Library
for dance practice from 7pm-
8:30pm on
Monday nights in June
and July, except for July 4th. Come on out and socialize even if you
don't dance.
We'll be doing kid-friendly dances so that children can participate,
no dance experience is required. Suba is looking for a teacher and
can teach several
dances herself. Dates are June 6, 20, & 27 and July 18 & 25.
Webmistress
Have not yet updated the Canton’s newly-registered name on the website.
Will do this shortly. Herald is not sure if approved version of the name
is spelled Feorag or Feoragh - since the approval message included both
spellings. We'll get the 'H' out of there for now, and change it later
if it turns out we need it.
Created web pages for the Dance practice and Bardic Circle. Reactivated
the Thrown Weapons page.
Posted demo dates on the website; intend to add a page for Demo details
this month.
Exchequer has been updated on the Officers’ page. Need to update Chronicler.
