Canton Meeting Minutes

Wednesday March 23, 2005

Present: Lord William Graham, Lady Elenora the Tilemaker, Corwyn, Bilgisayar, Lady Suba al-Hadid, Deiniol ap Gwrgwst.
Meeting called to order at 7:36 pm

Officer’s reports:

Seneschal

Hello and greetings to my friends and neighbors in the Valley! Checked with all Kingdom Officers on warranting status Chatelaine needs to complete warranting, and Chronicler can now start the warranting process.

Motion William Graham to close nominations and hold a vote on Chronicler. Suba second. Motion passes.

Vote to have Bilgisayar as Chronicler passes.

Thanks to the Herald for cc-ing the Seneschal on the herald's quarterly report. All are welcome to cc the sensechal as well.

Reports are important, since in June we're going to apply for full Canton Status. This will be the beginning of the process to become a full canton, which will include polling the populace and calling for a full vote.

We achieved Incipient status at Kingdom Crusades 1 1/2 years ago. It would be cool to achieve full status at the next one.

Proxy from Fiona. No expenditures made this month, so balance has not changed.

We have $1267 in the treasury.

Chatelaine

Middletown Pride day is May 14th at Williamson Trade School. (Michelle from Middletown Township.) Ian Raven of Tadcaster has endorsed fencing at our demo. Magnus has offered to bring up fighters for our demo. We should arrive 9 or 9:30.

Delaware has their demo (Dover Days) on May 7th.

We have been invited to do a demo on April 5th at Media Elementary School for their Academically Gifted Program. The demo will be from 1pm - 3pm.

Delco Library system has asked us for a series of demos. Theme is fantasy and dragons. Suba will do dancing, embroidery, and board games.

Quarterly Report went in..

Mistress of Arts and Sciences

Queen's favors project underway for Coronation gift. Workshop on Saturday March 26, 11am - whenever. May also do potpourri sachets.

Other coronation gifts: baskets of stuff need napkins as liners - purple fabric with coronet.

Celtic Cock Brewer's Guild meets 2nd wed of the month. This month is at Micheal Knauer's.

Planning weekly Dance Practice through the summer looking into Middletown Library.

Still planning summer garb workshops weekly , but waiting on dates for dance practice.

Monthly A&S meeting on the 4th wednesday; would like to make a large banner for the canton.

Webmistress

Last meeting: Motion to consider a $20 donation (Corwyn, Ellen second) to defray EK server costs. Tabled until next meeting.

Motion to revisit donation after Pennsic Bil, second Corwyn. Pennsic. motion passes.

Need to put up Brew U page and Middletown Pride Day page, and list all the demos.

Martial Activities

We have been fencing Thursdays in Philadelphia and Sundays at Rogues Den, which also has an informal Heavy Weapons practice on Sundays.

Thrown Weapons will re-start at Deiniol and Damiana's soon.

Archery starting after the weather goes over 40 degrees (fiberglass bows don't like cold). Archery workshop at Deiniol's last month for fixing and repairing was a success.

Chronicler

Bilgisayar: requesting articles, links to images, especially squirrles and acorns. Subtmit artwork too.

Chamberlain

(Corwyn):
The chest is believed to belong to the Canton. Investigation in order. Haven't been able to get in touch with Keegan.

Special committees

Finance Commitee

(William):
No new business for the finance committee.

EK Southern Region Brewers' University

We have one reservation.

Fiona is still planning to do the dayboard and is planning the menu.

Fiona is planning to help on Troll.

Organizational meeting April 24th at 2pm at Elenora's

Got some classes for the listing already.

Middletown Pride Day Demo:

SCA Rennaissance Fair

This is a fun day to hang out, play, try new thingsWe have fencers, fighters, and some dancing.

Discussed pweter casting; there are some concerns. Will play by ear.

Old Business

Coronation gifts - we discussed.

Pavilion: bigger one for less - trying to get two (one for us and one for the canton).
