Mike's schedule has been changed again,
so his proxy report given by Melodie.
Quarterly report done, will be turned in
tonight. Need to know how many
active members have cards and how many active members don't have cards.
Don't forget to send in your reports.
Exchequer
We have approx $525 and change in the bank. We
have outsanding debts to Penni and reimbusing for herald submission fees.
We have joint status with Bhakail. In
reality we should not need to apply to the baronial exchequer for checks
- so we are working on some way to get signatory power to our exchequer. Fiona
is going to work this out with Asbjorn.
By Jan 31st we will have letters noting charitable donations.
Chatelaine
No new news. New person was sick and
couldn't make it to Yule.
Would like to have a newcomer's table at the next event.
The May Day Demo Franklin Mint, YMCA, Williamson
Trade School are the three main organizers of this event, so the event is
likely to be at one of the other
two. This would be a good opportunity to recruit fighters.
There is somebody out in Avondale who owns
property who runs an international horse olympic level event every fall. He is looking for a small medieval
village. September
9th and 10th, 11th 12, whatever. He was just thinking a demo, but he'd
really like a village.
We should get into the Halloween Parade in Media too.
Also in October up Darby Road is Haverford
Township day. Gets played
repeatedly on Comcast.
Maybe also Super Sunday in Media.
June at Penn Renn Celtic Fling - demo done by Silver Rylle.
Demo at Indian Lane guy who does school
shows - Chris James the renn Man see William Fitwater; Melodie avail Mondays
and Wednesdays. We're looking
at a Monday.
Linda and Rob are new and have joined us today.
Mistress of Arts and Sciences
We need to pick a date to work on Tabards
and Cylcasses. Baldrics for
non-martial. Maybe Hoods for archers.Monday nights are being considered. These
would belong to Gold Key. Charging slightly over cost. William's
mother is willing to sew. We plan to get the fabric from Walmart - Linda
and Corwyn are getting it. Corwyn already has some of the black. Jan
12th will be first meeting.
Considering selling pennants at demos.
Domesday Book. We'd like to put award scrolls and arms into the book
and on the Web. Do a little bio. Photo too. Awards, any scrolls,
your device, any guilds, households, affilliations, jobs, etc. If you'd
like to do your own, please feel free. Atlantia's is really cool.
Herald
Canton device has been submitted. Asbjorn did not respond to request
for reimbursement. This will be handled at Baronial meeting.
Kat asked some questions about personal
device.
Jamilia wants to change her device.
Melodie wants a device and to pass her name.
Knight Marshal
Office presently stands empty.
Webmistress
At Yule I was able to meet with Lord Robin
Gallowglass, who is the incoming
EK Web Minister, and personally deliver to him my copy of my membership card
and letter requesting warranting from both myself and the Seneschal of the
Canton.
At the event he pronounced me officially warranted, and as of now I have
completed the requirements to become an officially recognized site of the
SCA. So we're official!
Now that we have an officially recognized website, we have the option of
getting free space on the East Kingdom domain. I had originally been
waiting to get us our own space because of our name not being passed and I
didn't want us to buy a domain name until we were sure we had the final form
of the name. Lord Robin reassures me that we would have a subdomain, which
the ek mother domain can create and change at will without incurring any
cost, so that removes that concern. The only remaining concern was that the
EK site does not support ASP scripting, which is what we use for our
webpages. Lord Robin tells me that they do support scripting in another
language (PHP), and it probably won't be hard for me to convert what we
have, and that we will additionally have access to a photo gallery program
free of charge which will allow members of our canton to post pictures and
comment on the pictures without having to go through me to do so. And we
have tons of pictures! If we don't have tons now we will eventually.
I make a motion that we move our website to the free space on the EK
site, so that our site doesn't have to be a little offshoot of a personal
site; it can be more official-like and independent, and much more like the
business entity it does in fact represent.
William Fitz seoncd. Motion passes.
Marshal of Fence
No practices because no site.
Chronicler
I'm in the midst of building the newsletter. I
anticipate publication of the first issue in late
January. I have a couple submissions, and I want
more!
I sent my annual report to the Kingdom Chronicler.
Hey Keegan, where's my Winter Brew recipe?
We believe that our newsletter cannot accept advertising due to the lawsuit
out west.
Yes, we can list afundraiser for Feorag
Dubh if we have one.
Special committees
Bhakail Yule Revel
We made money! Bhakail made money.
All the mercants concur this was one
of the best Yule revels in a long time. The general atmosphere was really good. Total head count
was 148. A few (one or two) people sent in checks and put stop payments
on them when they decided not to show. (Amusingly, the stop payment
costs almost as much as the event). Seneschal suggests that we keep
a list of people who do this and refuse to accept their reservation
Beltaine Brew and Brawl
There is a yahoogroup for beltaine - please let Lady Mel know if you want
on.
Want to have another meeting. Jan
15th at William Fitzwater's. 729
West Chester Pike Second Floor. Not childproof.
Is there any fundraiser the canton can
do before Beltaine to raise funds. Need to budget Beltaine. Still
put a pickle jar at the end of the dayborad for donations. Make
sure honeydipper can get in and out.
More later at the meeting.
Old Business
Archery is going on. Corwyn is
calling practices and
will loan a 50-lb bow to anyone who needs to borrow equipment. Robin
will also bring her bow for loan.
Pavilion. Need to talk to Adolphus
about where he got the top. 25x25 we'd have to make poles and ropes. Nylon
top approx $150. Also tent making project. Bilgisayer is getting
an industrial sewing machine for makeing tents with canvas. Costing
canvas - William Fitzwater - subforger 7.5oz canvas 38inches wide pieces
usually $75/yd for 60" wide but might get 40 yards for $75.
Walmart Better Homes and Gardens castle
Collection pavilion. 10x13 tannish brown with dags. William
Fitz will get SKU. This is a walmart exclusive. $100 on ebay. New Business
None.
Comments for the good of the
Canton
